Practice expressing yourself dynamically with your cymbals! Sagat/Zils (Arabic/Turkish) are common accompaniment to dancers and are sometimes just played by musicians (without the dance). In this workshop, we will explore various sounds and sound qualities to connect with and unlock your inner cymbal potential. We will utilize techniques such as intentional timing, deep listening/responding to music, and improvised movement to guide us.

This is a dance and music experience. We will do a brief group warmup, but feel free to do a more extensive warm-up prior to coming to class.

*Bring a pencil and notebook, and your cymbals! Don’t have any? We suggest ordering from Saroyan Mastercrafts. We will have a few pairs to lend.
