DABKE / Lebanese Simon (3hr INT/ADV)
Saturday July 6th, 12-3p
Covering the evolution of Dabke in the Lebanese Sharki dance scene and theatre productions through some lecturing, demonstrating, and observing. We will explore drills with various rhythms and styles of Dakbe, as well as work on a combination that builds to short modern Dabke choreography. Then we’ll finish with a lecture series that features videos of Lebanese Sharki dancers and folk interpretations and evolutions of the night scene in Lebanon.
Difficulty: All dancers who enjoy a challenge are welcome to attend this intermediate/advanced level class.
Please bring: Your favorite reusable water container. L&C DOES NOT ALLOW DISPOSABLE WATER BOTTLES ONSITE.
Optional: Dance shoes, exercise towel, yoga mat, or a pad and pen for notes.
